How to choose

What actually matters for dentistry

Cheapest isn't always best, fully-English matters, and DCI recognition is non-negotiable. Here's how we help you weigh it up honestly.

💶

Total cost - and it isn't cheaper than India

Compare tuition + living over 5-6 years, not year-one fees. And be clear-eyed: European dentistry usually costs more than a private BDS in India - the value is the EU degree, English teaching and mobility, not a discount.

🗣️

Check the teaching language

Most destinations teach the whole BDS in English. A few - notably Romania - move later clinical work into the local language. We tell you exactly which, so there are no surprises.

🛡️

DCI / NDC recognition - always

The qualification and screening route must satisfy India's Dental Council / National Dental Commission rules. India scrutinises foreign dental degrees closely - we verify each programme in writing before you commit.

Common questions

Comparing BDS in Europe - FAQs

Bulgaria and Romania have the lowest dental tuition (around €8,500-€10,000/year) alongside low living costs. Cyprus and Charles University in Prague sit at the premium end (up to €23,000-24,250/year). Always compare the full-degree total, not just year-one tuition.

Most of them - Hungary, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Cyprus teach the whole programme in English. Romania is the exception: theory is in English, but later clinical work is often conducted in Romanian. We flag this clearly per university.

Five years in most countries (the DMD/DDS/BDS), and six years in Romania. In most cases that's a year shorter than MBBS, which is six years.

Usually not - a private BDS in India can cost less. The reason to study dentistry in Europe is the EU-recognised degree, English-medium teaching and the mobility it opens across the EU and beyond, not undercutting Indian fees.

Only if the qualification is recognised and you clear India's screening/exit exam - currently the DCI Screening Test, moving to the National Exit Test (Dental) under the NDC Act, 2023 - and register with a State Dental Council. India scrutinises foreign dental degrees closely, so we verify each university's standing in writing before you enrol.
