These are taught postgraduate (master's / PhD) programmes in health and medical sciences - for research, public health, health management and academic careers. They are not clinical specialisation / residency, which in Europe is conducted in the national language and is largely restricted for non-EU doctors. For clinical PG, most Indian doctors return to India via NEET-PG.

Can I specialise - cardiology, surgery, radiology - with a master's in Lithuania?

No - and this matters. Becoming a specialist doctor (cardiologist, neurosurgeon, radiologist, psychiatrist, and so on) is not done through a taught master's degree. It happens through specialist (residency) training - years of competitive, supervised hospital training posts governed by Lithuania's medical council, largely reserved for EU doctors. There is no "MSc in Cardiology" that makes you a cardiologist, anywhere in the world.

For clinical specialisation, most Indian doctors specialise back home via NEET-PG. What the master's and PhD programmes above do give you is deep academic and research expertise in a medical field - which is a different, and genuinely valuable, path.

The honest rule of thumb:

  • Want to practise as a specialist? That's residency/NEET-PG - not a master's.
  • Want research, academic or health-system expertise in that field? That's what these degrees are for - e.g. oncology, neuroscience, genomic medicine, or the Master of Surgery (MCh) research route.
